Alison Saxton

Dr Alison Saxton (PhD, BPsych(Hons), MAAPi) is a registered psychologist, Psychology Board Approved Supervisor (PsyBA) and Certified Theraplay® Practitioner, Trainer and Supervisor. She has over 20 years experience working in the mental health and trauma field and works with adults and children presenting with:
• Trauma and PTSD
• Grief and loss
• Anxiety, depression and other mental health concerns
• Parenting challenges
• Child emotional and behavioural difficulties
• Child developmental delays

Alison’s therapeutic approaches include Theraplay®, Eye Movement Desensitisation and Reprocessing (EMDR), Narrative Therapy, Schema Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural approaches and Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (TF-CBT), and play based therapies.

Informed by trauma and attachment theories, Alison has a particular interest working with families using Theraplay®; a dyadic experiential therapy which provides play-based relational interventions to address child developmental delays, the psychological and developmental impacts of trauma, and emotional/behavioural difficulties.

In addition to her clinical practice, Alison provides clinical supervision, consultation and professional training.

Alison love the outdoors and her happiest place (after spending time with her grandchildren) is hiking in nature.
